Why train to be an Electrician?

Electricians are in high demand! Everything we do is somehow affected by electricity and our dependency on wires and circuits is only growing. With this growing need for electricity and power comes the need for more skilled, qualified, and experienced electricians. Plus, Electricians are paid well! According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS), the average annual pay for an Electrician was $52,720 in 2016.

Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems in homes, businesses, and factories.

Electricians work in every building, in every town and every city across the country! As an Electrician, you can work anywhere you want to live. Electricians work indoors and outdoors in nearly every type of facility.

 

What is the job outlook for Electricians?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, “Overall growth of the construction industry and the need to maintain older equipment in manufacturing plants… will require more electricians.” As many as 60,000 more electricians in the United States through 2026, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics. With a projected 9% rate of growth from 2016-2026, the Electrical industry is healthy and growing.

The Electrician program at Lamson prepares students to begin an entry-level career in the electrical industry. Students learn electrical code, wiring installation, conduit bending, motors and transformer systems, as well as manual and electric industrial controls, and more. Lamson’s program provides hands-on, practical training to give students real-world experience.

Graduates will be capable of working in residential and industrial maintenance environments, and will also be able to execute new construction electrical work. Graduates of Lamson’s Electrician program will be prepared to test for the Electrical Trainee (ET) Certification.
